Audiology Staff

There are three members of the audiology staff of the Ear Institute of Chicago. Each audiologist is licensed and certified in Audiology in the state of Illinois. Each audiologist has a wide range of experience in the field of audiology. Some of these experiences include:

  • neurophysiological monitoring
  • cochlear implant evaluation/testing/programming
  • clinical audiology research
  • hearing aid dispensing

Kathleen Highhouse, Au.D,CCC-A, received her Bachelor’s Degree at Illinois State University and Master’s Degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Kathy Highhouse has experience with audiological and vestibular diagnostic testing, hearing aids, cochlear implants, Baha implants, aural rehabilitation and supervision of Audiology doctoral students. She has been working as an audiologist since June 2000 and joined the staff at the Ear Institute of Illinois in December 2006.

Jill Messina, Au.D., CCC-A, received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her Doctor of Audiology degree from Northwestern University. Jill Messina has experience with audiological and vestibular diagnostic assessment, electrophysiological testing, hearing aids, aural rehabilitation, and supervision of audiology Doctoral students. She is a member of the Ear Institute of Illinois cochlear implant team. Jill Messina serves as a board member on the Illinois Academy of Audiology (ILAA). She has her Certificate of Clinical Competence and is licensed by the state of Illinois.

Melissa Tednes, Au.D., CCC-A, received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her Doctor of Audiology degree from Illinois State University. Melissa Tednes has experience with audiological and vestibular diagnostic evaluations, hearing aids, tinnitus evaluations, tinnitus management, cochlear implants, bone anchored hearing aids, and aural rehabilitation. Melissa Tednes has her Certificate of Clinical Competency and is licensed by the state of Illinois in audiology. She is also a member of the American Academy of Audiology.
