The Section of Otology/Neurotology
and Skull Base Surgery, Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck
Surgery Northwestern University sponsors an otology/neurotology fellowship.
The Director of the program is
Richard Wiet, MD,
professor of clinical otolaryngology and neurosurgery at Northwestern
University.
The fellowship is a two-year program. During the first twelve months of the
fellowship, the fellow is involved in a clinical rotation under the direction
of
Robert Battista, MD. Throughout the first year, basic
and clinical science research is performed under the direction of
Claus
Peter-Richter, MD, PhD. A total of six months is alloted for research
time. The entire second year is a clinical rotation under the supervision
of Richard Wiet, MD. Throughout the two-year fellowship,
Arvind Kumar,
MD provides didatic teaching of the fellows. Clinical and basic
science research rotations are performed at Northwestern University Institutions
and
Hinsdale
Hospital. A 5-station state-of-the-art
temporal bone laboratory is
available at Hinsdale Hospital. The Northwestern University Otology/Neurotology
Fellowship Program is accredited by the
Accreditation
Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
