The Ear Institute of Chicago is a medical and surgical practice that devotes itself entirely to the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the ear, facial nerve and related structures (otology/neurotology and skull base surgery). The Ear Institute of Chicago is actively engaged in research and teaching through its affiliation with the Northwestern University Medical School. This website is designed to educate and inform our patients, physicians and other health care professionals.
The patient information section of our website is designed to help make your visit to our office a pleasurable experience. This section enhances the patient-physician relationship by giving you 24-hour access to patient forms, postoperative instructions and frequently asked questions.

Richard J. Wiet, MD, FACS was awarded the 2011 Professional Excellence Award by the Acoustic Neuroma Association (ANA). Dr. Wiet is one of only three physicians to have received this award from the ANA.
Robert Battista, MD, FACS recently published a paper entitled, "Sound localization in unilateral deafness with the Baha or TransEar", in the January 2013 journal, JAMA Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.
Mark Wiet, MD recently published a paper entitled,"Long Term Results Using Three Different Tissue Seals in Stapes Surgery", in the January 2013 journal, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.
Introducing MY CHART Patient Portal:
MY CHART Patient Portal allows secure, online communication between patients and the staff/physicians of the Ear Institute of Chicago.
New patients can complete forms online before their office appointment. Completing the forms online will improve accuracy and save time in the waiting room.
Existing patients can:
- Request medication refills
- Request follow-up appointment times
- View details of your past and upcoming appointment
- Download your personal health record (PHR) in a secure (CCD) format
To sign-up for MY CHART Patient Portal:
NEW PATIENTS: Click on the link below to register with our patient portal. Complete the requested form online and someone from our office will contact you to schedule your first appointment. (Do not complete this form if you have already contacted our office to schedule an appointment.)
EXISTING PATIENTS: Please contact our office to supply an email address. An automated email will be sent to you along with a user name and password to access the Patient Portal. The email will come from our medical records provider, eClinicalWorks. (Be sure to check your "spam" folder if you have not received the link.) It is suggested that you bookmark the site for easy access in the future.
